The recycling industry unites to challenge the global crisis
The 3rd edition of Metalriciclo, the International Exhibition on Technologies for the Recovery and Recycling of ferrous and non ferrous metals, Environmental quality and Energy efficiency, is coming back from 2nd-4th April 2009. An event which takes place despite the crisis spreading to all the industrial sectors and which stands as a moment of reflection and comparison to reach a market reaction expected for a medium term.
The confidence of companies, associations and institutions has confirmed the value of Metalriciclo as a reference event for the scrap recovery and recycling system, where will be shown the best of the division’s technology and know-how, thanks to the presence at the fair of renowned names of the recycling industry: plants producers, metal suppliers, environmental services suppliers, suppliers of scrap recovery and recycling technologies, manufacturers of equipment for the recovery of swarf.
It is an edition completed and strengthened by the joining of the fourth edition of Alumotive, the exhibition of components and subcontracting in aluminium, metals and technological materials for the transport industry.
Therefore, for three days Brescia will be the capital of innovation, technology, sustainability, supporting two expositive moments dedicated to two key-sectors of the national metallurgical industry, in an industrial district - namely Brescia - which boasts the Italian supremacy in terms of metal production and recycling.
The value of the event was portrayed by the words of Romano Pezzotti, President of Assofermet Rottami during the event presentation press conference which took place on January 22nd at Circolo della Stampa in Milan: «Each year in Italy are collected 16 million tons of ferrous scrap which are reinserted in the productive cycle of the steel mills, which have an annual consumption of 21 million tones.
This is why for our system are fundamental events such as Metalriciclo, considered by Assofermet to be ‘the proper exhibition’ of reference». In the virtue of the privileged collaboration with Assofermet, Metalriciclo 2009 will be enriched by a unique photo exhibition. The exhibition called “As we were”, follows the precise research and selection work of images which show the work of the scrap operator of the Fifties to this day made by Assofermet for the preparation of the volume “Assofermet 1948-2008”.
The exhibition will be completed by a rich program of collateral events, forums on technical issues, round tables and conferences which enrich the presentations with moments of great information value. Works will be opened on Wednesday, April 2nd with the presentation of the Scrap/Waste Reception and Administration Protocol coordinated by the ‘Assessorato all'Ambiente- Ecologia- Attività Estrattive ed Energia’ of Brescia province, during which the Councillor Enrico Mattinzoli will take part. In the afternoon will take place the technical forum dedicated to the “Implication of the Reach rules on recycling”.
On Friday starts the market session held in collaboration with Assofermet, called “The strategic value of raw material in the actual crisis affecting the metallurgical and the iron and steel industry”, which will be opened by the speech of the economist Fedele De Novellis on the macroeconomical situation followed by a comparison between the representatives of the main associations of reference of the Italian metallurgical industry (Romano Pezzotti-Assofermet, Mario Bertoli-Assomet, Enrico Frigerio-Assofond, Cesare Pasini- Federacciai). In the afternoon the works will be opened by the conference “ELV - Experiences on the recovery of metal from the end of life cars”, moderated by the Sole24Ore’s journalist Dario De Andrea, with the participation of Salvatore Di Carlo, of Fiat Group Automobiles and of Michele Simonetti from UNRAE. After that, it’s the turn of the forum held by CiAl and dedicated to “Collection, Recycling, Recovery of Aluminium packing”, with Gino Schiona (CiAl), Giancarlo Longhi (Conai), Saverio Zetera (ASM BS a2a), Stefano Stellini (CiAl), Maarten Labberton (EAA).
