CiAl’s competition awards the pictures of 10 young students

The prize giving of the ten best ideas sent by secondary school students closed the ‘Obiettivo Alluminio’ competition, promoted by the Consorzio Imballaggi Alluminio in ten Italian chief towns of province: Trent, Padua, Milan, Pescara, Lecce, Potenza, Reggio Calabria, Palermo, Cagliari and Sassari.
The competition included that the young participants highlighted the issue of aluminium recycling by means of photographs symbolizing their own personality and telling about the everyday use of aluminium and its links with positive and negative environmental issues as they are daily experienced in the participants’ hometown.

The initiative had great success: the jury actually had to select ten ideas out of more than 600 pictures coming from 166 secondary schools. The project aimed to promote the everyday use, applications and qualities of aluminium, aspects that are necessary to awaken the youths and the citizens to the recyclable waste collection of this precious material that, more than being widely used, can be endlessly and totally recycled.

The echo of this initiative was immediate: the local newspapers of the ten towns involved published articles connected with the chief town and with the local organization of the aluminium recyclable waste collection thus supporting and driving the youths to implement their works. ‘Obiettivo Alluminio’ actually represented a twofold value activity since the newspapers helped both the students to gather the information needed to produce the papers for the competition, and the citizens, usual readers of the local newspapers, to find real and direct articles about the aluminium recyclable waste collection in their hometown.
The prize for the winner? It could be nothing but the Ricicletta, the well-known city bike made of recycled aluminium.
