Teknomotive 2011 and the transport chain

Materials, technologies and subcontracting at the centre

Aluminium is one of the protagonists of Teknomotive, the only Italian exhibition at an international level dedicated to materials, technologies and subcontracting for the transport
industry. The event, which will be held at Brixia Expo-Fiera di Brescia from 20 to 22 October 2011, will be the showcase for raw materials, parts and semifinished products, models and prototypes, technologies, systems and equipment for the design, processing, finishing, inspection and parts assembly for the automotive, commercial and industrial transport, rail, marine, aviation and special vehicles
sectors.
A show of the supply chain, where ample space is given to metals, basic materials for the production of components for transport means. Divided into four major categories - aluminium, steel, other materials and technologies - the event will give particular prominence to high-tech materials and their specific applications: ferrous and non ferrous metals, special steels, titanium alloys, aluminium alloys for foundry and processing applications, special cast irons, composites and special plastics. The event will give the highest prominence to the value of service in sub-contracting for this demanding industry, the 'intangible component' which is a great added value of Italian subcontracting companies and is able to make the difference in global competition.
Teknomotive will be a showcase of excellence in made in Europe technologies for the transport industry, and will take advantage of integration with numerous institutional initiatives to support sector that exist at local and regional level and represent interesting opportunities for development and opportunities for cooperation between institutions, industries, universities and associations.

Teknomotive: why in Brescia
Italy is ranked second in Europe after Germany for the production of components for transport, with a concentration in Piedmont, which represents 25% of the Italian automotive industry in terms of employees, and Lombardy, which represents 15% of this important industry. Brescia, in particular, represents the second largest Italian centre after Turin, with about 300 local units, 20,500 direct and indirect employees, that is 12% of employment in the manufacturing industry in the province.
The annual turnover of this sector in 2009 amounted to around 6.5 billion EUR, approximately 15% of the total turnover of the manufacturing industry in Brescia. Exports amounted to little more than 1 billion euro, representing 15.5% of sales.
The companies of Brescia in the sector, which include major multinational components for transport, are companies heavily oriented towards internationalization.

Innovation and technology transfer at the centre
Thanks to Edimet's significant experience in organizing technical events for industrial materials, Teknomotive will also be a unique opportunity for technical and technological updating across the board in the complex subcontracting system for the transport industry with a technical-informational programme composed of meetings and seminars unique in its completeness and variety, organised with the support and cooperation of the most influential players of each sector, with an eye always on the needs of the end-user. Teknomotive has the contribution of the Chamber of Commerce of Brescia and the support of Aib-Confindustria and Associazione Artigiani.
