The traditional event which bears the signature of Metra Spa took place this year with some changes: moving the awards ceremony in October and the launch of the competition on Facebook.
Indeed, the awards ceremony was held last October on Lake Iseo, for the winners of the 18th edition of the Sistema d’Autore Metra International Competition. Important reference point for professionals in construction and international architecture, the competition has awarded 24 works divided as follows: 13 for the New Construction category, 6 for the category Restoration and Renovation, 5 for Innovative Technology category. A completely "Made in Metra" off-competition construction was also awarded.

Metra beyond the crisis
"We have behind us difficult months, which have also weighed heavily on the construction sector. A large crisis that has forced companies to take actions that would allow, in some cases, at least the survival", Bruno Bertoli the president of Metra said during the opening ceremony.
And, he also added, Metra has addressed the crisis by choosing to cut the surplus and invest a lot: an old press of 3000 t was replaced by a new press of 4000 t; a new paint booth was installed in Metra Colors; a large amount has been invested in the foundry department, with the aim of further improving the quality of the product; a new painting plant for small pieces was
commissioned.
Year 2009 was also the year of training: Metra has always been convinced of the great value of its human resources; in the last year it has invested as much as in the
previous 5 years in training.
But most importantly, the new logistics centre was created, designed and developed according to the 'just in time' model.
Metra, replacing its 13 logistics centres in Italy, has invested about 15 million EUR to create a truly innovative and high automation logistics centre, working day and night.

Part of a most friendly communication project launched by Metra, the Metra Sistema d’Autore Inter-national Competition becomes a social event. From late October to late January 2011 it is possible to vote for the preferred project on Facebook. In February 2011 the winning projects will be announced, which will be awarded with a real plaque and a virtual plaque.
